The latest examination of school attendance zones discovered that a 1997 redistricting inadvertently crossed State Road 72 past Myakka State Park, in effect putting the eastern-most students into attendance zones for Laurel Nokomis and Venice High Schools.  The problem is that for any such students to get to those schools, they still have to come all the way in at least to I-75 before turning south; by then, they are already close to Lakeview, Sarasota Middle, and Riverview High Schools.  At this time, there are no students who would be affected negatively by this change.  If adopted, this correction to the "walking descriptions" of the five affected schools will go into effect immediately.

That the School Board amend the walking descriptions to Lakeview Elementary, Laurel Nokomis, Sarasota Middle, Riverview High, and Venice High Schools effective immediately, as presented.
